Water has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My love for swimming began when I was just 18 months old, and my parents often said I was a "natural" in the water. That early connection shaped my lifelong journey as a swimmer, coach, and teacher.
My philosophy on swimming is simple yet powerful: when fear and panic are set aside, the body floats. With calmness, swimming becomes an easy and natural skill. That’s why I start working with swimmers as young as eight months old. While independent swimming with head lifts for breathing typically develops between 2.5 to 3.5 years, it's incredible to see infants as young as 8-10 months instinctively kick and swim as long as their little lungs allow.
I started competitive swimming at age eight and never looked back. I swam for my high school team, trained year-round with RMSC, and later competed as a Division I swimmer at UMBC, contributing to our Conference Champion Swim and Dive team. I might be modest, but I can’t resist a little brag—I can (almost) breathe underwater, and that’s a point of personal pride!
Life has taken me through many laps, including my greatest role—being a proud mom to four incredible kids. Watching them grow and achieve their own milestones brings me as much joy as my own swimming victories.
My coaching journey began before I could even drive. I started teaching swim lessons at my local swim club on weekends and continued throughout high school and college. Over the years, I’ve coached various teams and watched my swimmers develop not just as athletes but as individuals. Many have gone on to become lifeguards, collegiate swimmers, and even parents themselves—some now bringing their own kids to me for lessons!
Safety is at the heart of everything I do, and I stay up to date with my CPR and First Aid certifications. As a coach, educator, and lifelong swimmer, I believe in fostering confidence and skill in the water while ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all.
I look forward to sharing my love of swimming and helping others develop this essential, life-changing skill!
